Athens Accommodation
Athens offers its visitors a great variety of hotels, as well as other accommodation solutions. If what you rank most highly is aesthetics, Athens offers a large number of choices ranging from modern minimalist hotels and boutique hotels to lodgings in traditional buildings and international chains hotels with luxurious services.
Should location be high on your agenda, the number of choices is still very broad, as there are hotels in many different districts of Athens. On the one hand, you can choose the city center and stay in a room with view to the Parthenon or Lycabetus Hill, in city center districts such as Plaka, Monastiraki, Kolonaki or Syntagma.
If you prefer views of and access to the sea, you should go for districts such as Glyfada, Vouliagmeni or Piraeus. What is also important is the fact that in every district you can find somewhere to stay at all price ranges.
Modern and State-of-the-Art Accommodation
Athens and the greater Athens region offer a total of 29.050 rooms in 493 hotels of various categories. What is even more important is the fact that the majority of this infrastructure has been updated, offering state-of-the-art facilities, due to the large renovation project that took place on the occasion of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. A study commissioned by the Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company on Athens’ Tourist Field in the Pre and the Post Olympic Games Eras shows that the city demonstrates the average length of a foreign tourist’s stay in a hotel is at 2,3, higher even than cities such as Paris ( 2 ) and Barcelona (1,97).
Everything on foot
The majority of hotels in the city are located within walking distance from a metro station. This in effect maximizes the opportunities to have an enjoyable time, since you can take advantage of the infrastructure of the city and easily go sightseeing, relax in a nice spot of the city, go shopping etc.
