First-Ever Ice Skating Rink Opens in Glyfada

For the first time in history, the youthful district of Glyfada is housing a state-of-the art and environmentally sound 17x30 (510 square meters) ice-skating rink for all to enjoy.

Known for its plethora of youthful activities, hotspots, bars and cafes, the cosmopolitan and international district is now enriched even more with the ISO 14001 certified ice skating rink. Built on the basketball court located at the Closed Swimming Pool, Palais de Sport, and surrounded by green, the ice-skating rink, branded as "Glyfada On Ice", will be open daily through mid-May from 11 a.m. until midnight

The rink is brought to the district by On Ice (www.onice.gr.) the official partner of Ice World International (www.ice-world.com), a leading mobile ice rink manufacturer offering a specialized and environmentally friendly patented technology that allows for countries and cities with high temperatures (such as Athens) to house such units and install them almost overnight.

According to On Ice, the passion for ice that Greeks seem to possess is leading to the further development of mobile ice rinks and to ice skating in general, a pastime that has been absent from the Athenian scene for many years. "Glyfada On Ice" offers "ice skating entertainment" with ice shows and events such as ice hockey demonstrations in addition to ice skating familiarity sessions by instructors on site. Skates and ice hockey accessories and apparel are also available to be ordered at the rink as is the booking of "Parties on Ice." A café is also on the grounds.
