Retrofuture Festival in Athens: Swing with the beat

The specially designed space at the National Insurance (Ethniki Asfalistiki) Building (at the Intercontinental) will host on 11 April an exciting evening of live DJ sets to accompany an exhibition of new design applications and a display of album covers with a retrofuture aesthetic. All this takes place in 2,000 square metres of stylish elegance.

Some of the most notable interior and industrial design companies will present their innovative ideas for "retro" as well as "future" design for a true Retrofuture experience.

The evening's music will be provided by internationally known musical artists who also happen to be especially popular with Greek audiences:

Mario Biondi (live)
The Italian soulman of jazz makes his first appearance in Greece.
With This is What You Are, this Italian's soul-jazz singer's reputation has crossed his country's borders. His collaboration with soulful house scene veteran Dimitri from Paris has brought him into contact with a broader public.

Seňor Coconut and his Orchestra (live)
Viva electro-latino hits!
Behind the name of Senor Coconut is none other than German producer Uwe Schmidt, one of the most multifaceted explorers of electronic sound - and more. When he wanted to retreat from the German dance frenzy in the mid- '90s, he settled in Chile where Latin elements gradually became a part of his electronic sound.

Parov Stelar (dj set)
Spiritual jazzy house beats
Parov Stela has become particular popular in Greece, infusing house and breakbeat rhythms into jazz compositions to create a unique fusion of sophisticated sounds.

Sunset Blvd (dj set)
Quality freestyle electronica
Giorgos Doudos, under the name Sunset Blvd, took off in a jazzier and more freestyle direction in the late '80s, releasing two albums on KLIK Records that met with great commercial success.
