The Hertz Festival, an event joining both Greek and internationally recognised artists in experimental music, is being launched in Athens. Creators such as Austrian Fennesz, Greek Novi_sad, French electronic music innovator Eliane Radigue and Thepersonwhodidthis, appearing for the first time in Athens, Greece, will experiment in a classic space where the unique acoustics will play a determinant and interactive role in the endeavour. The event is being held 19 and 20 February at the Parnassos Literary Society Concert Hall in Athens, Greece.

19 February

Fennesz (guitar, laptop)

Fennesz uses a guitar and computer to create a swirling electronic sound with a vast range and complex musicality. His lush and luminous compositions are anything but sterile computer experiments.

Novi_Sad (laptop, field recordings, drones)

Novi_Sad, influenced by pioneers in audio assault, began producing sounds in 2005. Amplified environmental recordings, drone manipulations, structured ambient soundscapes, microtones vs. overtones, all come together to form an iconoclastic hyper-structure.

20 February

Eliane Radigue (Arp synthesizer 2500, drones)

Eliane Radigue, already an electronic music pioneer by 1950, uses electronic sounds on tape to create an ambience of continually flowing sound ebbing around the listener.

Thepersonwhodidthis (interactive music on computers)

Thepersonwhodidthis has studied music psychology and is professionally engaged in music and computers. At the Hertz Festival, he will present Woodyson for the first time. Woodyson is an innovative musical touch tool that enables the user to communicate directly and physically with the computer and to translate musical thoughts into a visually dynamic spectacle rich in motion.
