Yuri Bashmet at Megaron Athens Concert Hall
Yuri Bashmet, the first viola in the world, is coming to the "Megaron" Athens Concert Hall for a concert on 27 March. Bashmet was first heard in the Friends of Music Hall in 1991, changing the cultural landscape of Athens, Greece. Since then, the Athens Concert Hall has always been on Bashmet's calendar, and this time he returns with the Moscow Soloists while retaining the role of soloist and maestro for himself.
Yuri Bashmet belongs to the rare species of artists who with skill, genius and intense personality opens new horizons by serving as a prototype for younger generations of musicians. He has founded the Moscow Soloists with who he has appeared all over the world in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Barbican, Berlin's Philharmonie, La Scala of Milan and others.
The Christos Lambrakis Hall will welcome him for a unique concert featuring: Divertimento for strings and orchestra by Bella Bartok; String quartet no. 13 for viola and strings, Op. 138 by Dmitri Shostakovich; Arpeggione Sonata in A minor (transcribed for viola and strings) by Franz Schubert; and Serenade for Strings by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
