Weather Report

Bassist Miroslav Vitous, one of the founders of Weather Report, one of the best known modern jazz groups, will be appearing live at the "Megaron" Athens Concert Hall on 28 March. Vitous has made a significant contribution to shaping the group's profile with his free compositions and high-level improvisation, where instruments enjoy equal treatment and participation. During this period of time, some of Vitous' executions have been described as phenomena in the history of jazz.

Weather Report had the dynamic of rock and r&b, while at the same time retaining its devotion to jazz and the spirit of improvisation that ultimately led to the creation of the fusion current. "Remember Weather Report" is a tribute to a period that was very creative for all concerned.

Vitous' absolute musical identification with drummer Gerald Cleaver create peak moments of pleasure, while Ambrosetti and Campbell contribute with their inspired solos. Almost all of the material is by Vitous with clear allusions to Wayne Shorter's "Nefertiti," Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman," as well as Miles Davis and Anton Dvořαk.

Don't miss Bassist Miroslav Vitous, one of the founders (along with Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul) of Weather Report, one of the best known modern jazz groups at the "Megaron" Athens Concert Hall on 28 March.
