Comicdom Con Athens

Comicdom Con Athens, a celebration dedicated to comics, invites friends of the Ninth Art and all those who would like to know more about the magical world of printed pop culture to attend this year's event. It is being held at the Hellenic American Union from 16 to 18 April in Athens, Greece and will feature three days of penciling events, showings, workshops on scripting and illustration, a bazaar of comics from Greek shops and publishers and the Comicdom Awards, the only comics awards for Greek creators.

Internationally known guests will include veteran superstar artist John Romita Jr, top writer Mike Carey, multitalented (penciler-colourist-inker) D'Israeli and the modern master of dark story comics, Kyle Hotz (guest of Jemma Press). They will be present throughout the event, signing their work, sketching for the public, taking part in panel discussions and holding workshops on scripting and illustration.

This year, the exhibition "From Yellow Kid to Conan" will feature the history of American comics, one of the most spectacular exhibitions on comics ever presented to a European audience. It will include the work of comic art greats such as Neal Adams, Carl Barks, Milton Caniff, Howard Chaykin, Winsor McKay, Todd McFarlane, Roy Thomas, Art Spiegelman, Walt Kelly and many others. This exhibition will run through May 16.

Following last year's success of a seminar introducing children to the world of comics through creative play, Comicdom Con Athens this year includes a workshop for preschool-aged children and another for children in primary school.

Don't miss Comicdom Con Athens, a celebration exclusively dedicated to comics, at the Hellenic American Union in Athens, Greece.
