"Moscow. 21st century" at the Museum of the City of Athens-Vouros-Eftaxias
The exhibition "Moscow. 21st century" is being present by the Cultural Institute of Moscow "Moscow City Museum," in cooperation with the Museum of the City of Athens-Vouros-Eftaxias. The exhibition will familiarise Athenians with modern Moscow as seen through photographs from the Moscow Museum. It is the museum's largest and most important collection, consisting of 70,000 photographs. The exhibition will run from 18 March to 18 April at the Museum of the City of Athens-Vouros-Eftaxias.
The accumulation of material for the exhibition began in 1896, the year the museum was founded, and has continued ever since.
The period presented is from the beginning of the 21st century, an era of radical changes in the life of the Russian Federation's capital with significant shifts in the economic and social sectors.
The beauty and history of Moscow has always been a pole of attraction for foreign visitors. These days, the city is trying to retain its unique character, preserving its historical heritage and restoring its ruined monuments, while modern architecture changes the face of Moscow.
Photographers like Rozhdestvensky, Reshunov and Ogorelkova present a contemporary image of Moscow through their work. Each of them displays his own aspect of the city. Some of them depict old monuments and historical areas, while others are more interested in modern architecture.
