Vodafone CU 7PLY project at Technopolis
The fifth anniversary edition of the "Vodafone CU 7PLY project" organized by Propaganda Rollin co. in collaboration with DC footwear and Vodafone CU is on the way. The "Vodafone CU 7PLY project" has been established as the biggest street and skateboard culture event taking place in Athens, Greece mixing all street culture elements. The unique skateboard art and culture festival will take place at the Technopolis, in Athens, Greece on the 24 and 25 of April.
The "Vodafone CU 7PLY project" in Athens, Greece will be an exceptional opportunity for everyone to be introduced to skateboard culture and lifestyle. All art and music lovers, skateboard fans and of course skaters will have the chance to enjoy the exhibition, the skate facilities, the music, as well as have fun with all the games and surprises Vodafone CU has in store for them in an amazing spectacle on the whole.
The skateboard deck is used both to inspire each participating artist and serve as the canvas for their creation. The transformation process that each deck undergoes results in a novel, unique artwork that will be exhibited in the 7PLY group exhibition. More than 120 artists, coming from many different European countries, have already expressed their will to participate in the exhibition. Their strong interest is indicative of the growth of the festival as well as its uniqueness within the European boundaries!
A selection committee will decide the most appealing art piece and will give the opportunity to the creator to collaborate with Propaganda Rollin Co. on a limited edition product series that will be included in the company's future catalogue.
Brand new skateboarding facilities will be set on site with two new hipped mini ramps and a special stair construction for the "CU @ The Stairs Best Trick Contest". This year the whole amount of the prize is set to 4000€.
The DC European skateboard team will do a special demo on the mini ramps on Saturday evening right after the miniramp qualifications.
Each morning the Rollin School will be operating for every young or old kid that aspire to learn basic principles of skating transitions.
The famous graffiti artist Flying Fortress from Germany is invited to participate in the exhibition and make his piece in collaboration with the well known local graffiti artist SER on a wall that will be specially set up in order to suffer their skills during their live graffiti performance on both days of the fest!
Epicly later'd projections
Between 15:00 and 17:00 on 24 & 25 April Vice will present for the first time to Greece Patrick O'Dell's "Epicly Later'd" in the new screening room of the "Vodafone CU 7ply project". The films are produced and provided by vbs.tv and Patrick O'Dell will come all the way from the United States to support the Vodafone CU 7ply project. Vice will also be announcing screening times for a couple of VBS's critically acclaimed productions; Meredith Dan Luck's The Ride and Spike Jonze's Heavy Metal in Baghdad.
The music line up for Saturday will present The Zoltan Tribe sound system (GR), Logos Apeili (GR), Killa Kela (UK) and the Foreign Beggars (UK). On Sunday, during the finals, Jon Kennedy (UK) will be playing his set, later on Chicks on Speed (DE) will perform live and Vicarious Bliss (UK) from the legendary Ed Banger records will set the last fire on the fest until the end.
