5th International Science Film Festival

The 5th International Science Film Festival in Athens, Greece will be presented again this year from 4 to 29 May 2010 at the facilities of the Center for Applied Industrial Design (CAID) under the title "Protes Provoles (Premiers)". This May in Athens, documentaries produced worldwide covering every scientific field will premier for Athenian audiences. Daily showings provide answers to simple questions and much more. At Protes Provoles, science documentaries meet digital art and new media.

What are the boundaries of time and string theory? How dangerous is Darwin's theory? Which flower treats diabetes? Do potatoes have the answers? What do the ancient astronomers of Timbuktu have to say? Is Chaos misunderstood? What secrets was Michelangelo hiding?

CAID, the center for Science, Society and Art which is staging the festival, for the first time combines current research and contemporary art. Along with the film showings, an international exhibition of digital art titled "Berlin-Athens" will be presented where artists use video technology and computers in an entirely different way.

Film showings will continue from 16 to 20 June, when parallel events will also be held as part of CAID's collaboration with the Athens Fringe Festival.
