Sculptures by Lazaros Lameras and Apostolos Fanakidis at B&M Theocharakis Foundation
An exhibition by distinguished sculptors Lazaros Lameras and Apostolos Fanakidis will be launched 12 May at the B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music in Athens, Greece. Lameras and Fanakidis are leaders in contemporary and modern sculpture. Their work reflects abstract, expressionist and symbolic trends characterised by their suggestive and at the same time explosive execution. The show will run through 12 September.
The goal of this joint effort is to follow the artistic course of these two great sculptors through a series of their more emblematic works.
More than 40 major works by Lameras, professor of sculpture at the National Technical University of Athens Architectural School, reveal the broad range of his artistic achievements from 1947 to 1995.
The 30 examples of Fanakidis' latest work show the continuation of his visionary world, defining a new direction in his work. The sculptor with the familiar expressionistic shapes creates a new reality based on the coexistence of heterogeneous materials, like charcoal with neon light.
