Catherine Diverres

Catherine Diverrès emerged on the French dance scene during the 1980s as she sought to chart her own route through a decade intent on questioning and breaking with the past. Her dance remains restless and is imbued with a singular poetic vigour. In her company's debut in Athens, Greece, she will present Blowin' (2007), a work for eight dancers and two musicians. Diverrès and her company will perform at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens from 10 to 12 July as part of the Athens Festival.

In Blowin' (2007), she reveals a kinship with Cunningham in her use of aleatory processes - though with different bodies, sensitivities and techniques and a less formalist vocabulary. The rules of the game: incorporation of improvisation into the creative process, experiments with live music and actively using the spectator.

Don't miss Catherine Diverrès and her company for the first time in Athens, Greece presenting Blowin' (2007) at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from 10 to 12 July.
