A Weekend of Romance & Luxury

Greece and Athens are breathtakingly beautiful cities that make for a romantic weekend getaway or escape. Here are some ways to take it a notch higher, for those with a little extra budget and adventure.

FRIDAY: Arrange for a professionally-guided tour of the sacred hill of the Acropolis and then enjoy a fine lunch with a view of the Parthenon at Pil Poul, Filistron, Dionysos Restaurant or the GB Roofgarden.

Take a siesta before or after enjoying a spa treatment at one of the city's five-star hotels in the centre.

Then, for an intimate dinner, opt for French-inspired Michelin-star Spondi or award-winning Edodi. With just under ten tables, it is for the soft spoken and romantic with adventurous palates.

SATURDAY: Spend the day shopping at many luxury stores along Panepistimiou and Voukourestiou Streets taking time to browse the jewelry shops including Lalaounis, Kessaris, Vildirides, Fine Gems - Papadopoulos, Athiniotakis. Before heading to the coast for a fabulous fish dinner, have a cocktail at the Galaxy Bar at the Hilton Hotel. Then take the 30-minute coastal ride to the glitzy area of Vouliagmeni and choose to dine at Matsuhisa Athens or Ithaki. In the summer continue your evening with dancing at Island.

SUNDAY: Why not arrange for a private yacht to take you on a day cruise to islands nearby such as Hydra, Tzia, Kythnos, Spestes, Poros and Aigina. If budget and time permits you can rent a helicopter for an aerial tour of the city.
