2nd Meeting on Contemporary Theatre
An exuberant four-day event of readings and discussion which aims to introduce Greek audiences to new theatrical texts from around the world and bring the theatre world into contact with contemporary dramatists. Following the success of last years Meeting on Contemporary Theatre the French Institute in Athens is collaborating again this year with the International Theatre Institute' s Hellenic Centre Contemporary Drama Forum.
As one of the H.C.I.T.I.s most recognized institutions the Contemporary Drama Forum is taking place for the fifth consecutive year - second year at the French Institute - presenting previously unpublished texts from around the world. 16 - 17 May 2011
The Institut Francais D' Athenes Literary Translation Workshops which this year celebrate 25 years of operation, form the basis for this two-day event which focuses on contemporary Greek and French repertoire with an emphasis on promoting the work of the translator. Theatre text readings, meetings with Greek and French writers, and discussions create a unique communication link between the Greek and French theatre which is aimed at an international audience. 18 & 19 Μay 2011
The first two days and the last day of the event - 16, 17 & 19 Μay - will take place at the French Institute's Amphitheatre, 31, Sina st. On 18 Μay the event is moving to BIOS, where the audience will have, among other things, the opportunity to see the first stage production of the play Les folles d'enfer de la Salpetriere in Greece, by guest artists and author Makhi Xenakis, directed by Anne Dimitriadis. THE INTERNATIONAL THEATRE INSTITUTE'S HELLENIC CENTRE
Narrative Text Dramatization Workshop
One of the aims of the of the International Theatre Institute's Hellenic Centre is to support the development of theatrical writing thus contributing to the exploration of contemporary theatrical pursuits. Within this framework it is organizing a Narrative Text Dramatization Workshop with Spanish author and Professor Alberto Conejero on the 19, 20, 21 and 22 May 2011. The objective of the workshop is to offer participants the necessary skills for the dramatization of narrative texts, i.e. the theatricalization of an initial literary text based on the rules of theatrical writing. The workshop is divided into two sections: a theoretical section and a practical application section during which participants will create a play based on the short story Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl. 19 - 22 Μay 2011.

International Street Theatre Festival, Street Theatre Performance
The International Street Theatre Festival is planning a street theatre performance on the afternoon of Thursday 18 May at Monastiraki Square. The performance can be seen as a forerunner to the 3rd International Street Theatre Festival taking place in Athens between 23 and 26 June 2011 in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens and the Cacoyannis Foundation.
Street Comedy with Delusions and Dreams
Street Comedy with Delusions and Dreams is one of the HELIX Street Theatre's most widely-travelled performances by the. Since it was presented for the first time in collaboration with the Municipal Regional Theatre of Kozani in 1998, it has toured throughout Greece and Cyprus and to International Festivals in Poland, Bulgaria, Belarus and Turkey. It is a show which incorporates all the elements which characterize street theatre and includes two small, authentic scenes from the Commedia Dell' Arte. Skillful stilt walkers with suspension, banners, fires, dreamy images, striking costumes, imposing music and fireworks create a performance full of humor, delusions and dreams.
