Athina's street summer

Festive flare as Kotzia square turns into a colourful beach!

In response to the economic crisis and the desertification of the Athenian center, ATEDCO (Athens tourism and economic development company) in collaboration with ONA, PODA, Technopolis, the Athens municipality music orchestra, Van Dog events, the Helix team, the "18Ano", Athens Voice, Best Radio, Enlefko, Bacaro and other citizens' associations, join forces to raise the city's morale and turn Kotzia square into an urban oasis.

Around 300sq.m of green grass and sand filled with sun beds and umbrellas replace the grey cement; free Yoga and Thai Chi courses help people cool off the pressure and stress, while music seminars, concerts and DJ sets engulf the city noise giving back to the city the rhythm and colourist deserves.

On Saturday June 25th, around midday, Athens City Hall receives the Special Olympic Flame, as Athens hosts the event this year. Later that day the square fills the tunes renowned Giannis Haroulis and Thanassis Papakonstantinou, supported by the "18Ano", in light of the World Anti-Drug day (26/06).

On Sunday 26th Dirty Fuse, The Dark Rags, Puta Volcano, Mad Leaf, Potergeist and Bliss bring their rockabilly attitude and rhythms over to Kotzia square.
The Athens street summer festivities end on the 28th June with Athens Voice throwing a super fresh beach party full of music and happenings.
