Syntagma Square will be decorated at the preferences of children
This Christmas Season, the City takes action in bringing a message of solidarity and unity, especially by making children an active key player in transforming Athens for the holidays into what it should be: a dynamic, special, young and non overweening city, which loves its sour orange threes instead of oversized Christmas trees.
Our young friends, students of elementary schools of the Municipality of Athens, will decorate in their own spontaneous and creative way all the trees that surround Syntagma Square. They will transform all sour-orange trees into Christmas trees with ornaments made exclusively from recycled material....
We chose as the main "concept" of this decoration the tin cans of milk, thus offering as a guideline to children in terms of the size and shape of ornaments for this decoration project. We also wish to offer our City's children a chance to show their creativity and work in a public space, as well as to give them the joy of being part of this Christmas season festivities.
At the same time, the students of AKTO art school will place a piece of art made again from recycled material, resembling a Christmas tree on Syntagma Square.
Syntagma Square this Christmas will become an art piece made exclusively by young and creative artists.
The decorations will begin on the first days of December, so that by December 9th, when the Mayor of Athens, Yorgos Kaminis will give the signal of commencement of the City of Athens Holiday Festivities at Syntagma Square, everything is ready.
An update of all Christmas activities will be provided by the following webpage www.christmasathens.gr, from December 5, as well as on our webpage of www.breathtakingathens.com and our pages of facebook and twitter.
