On April 2nd, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, International Children's Book Day has been celebrated all over the world. On the occasion of this celebration, the Herakleidon Museum organizes a series of events for children and their parents:
The Herakleidon Museum inAthens, Greece organizes Drawing and Painting Lessons for Children aged 8-15 years, conducted by Pascaline Bossu, every first and third Sunday (of each month).
The theme of the first Cycle (February-April) is "Self-portraits" and is inspired by the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci and his time (Renaissance).
Every Sunday from January 29th until February 19th 2012, from 11:00 until 12:30 at Herakleidon Museum in Athens, Greece, Vasilia Vaxevani will be unfolding stories from all over the world, using the kamishibai* technique, precursor of Japanese comics. Together, the children will create their own "paper theater".

The Herakleidon Museum and Papadopoulos Publications present the exhibition "Peter Pan" by the painter and children's books illustrator Svetlin Vassilev, from February 16 to March 21 in the museum's Educational Room.

On the last weekend of spring, 30 and 31 May, all children are invited to attend one of the most enjoyable celebrations ever held for their benefit: the children's festival Town For Kids 2, which will take place at Alsos Stratou in Goudi, Athens. Every Saturday, from October 20 till the end of May, the Museum of Cycladic Art houses a series of creative workshop for children of all ages: a painting workshop, handwork and constructions workshop, theatre play and the programme "Learning by playing".
