Athens Photo Festival, is the annual festival of photography in Greece and a premier cultural event in Athens, established in 1987 by the Hellenic Centre for Photography. It is the first and longest-running international festival of photography and related media in Greece, and one of the five oldest of its kind in the world.
The Athens gasworks, the site where "Technopolis"City of Athens is located, reopened its gates to the public, approximately 30 years after its operation closedown, as Athens's first industrial museum. The Athens gasworks was established in 1857, just three years after the Douroutis silk mill, in order to cover the city's need for public lighting.

"Giorgos Savakis: Images of Old Athens" is a retrospective exhibition of work by the well-known folk artist being staged at the City of Athens Technopolis. Sources of inspiration for the work include the childhood memories of the Athenian artist, his experience of everyday life in the early 20th century, as well as the history of Greece, as he depicts landscapes, folk celebrations, traditional costumes, characters and highlights from life in old Athens.

After three years in a row, the Vodafone CU 7 Ply Project skateboard art and culture festival has been established as the biggest event held in Greece showcasing all elements of street culture and especially skateboarding. Technopolis in Athens will once again host the festival on 8, 9 and 10 May. Live concerts and dj sets, as well as skateboard contests, will take place on location during the festival, in addition to the skate art exhibition.

The City of Athens is celebrating Carnival with two events featuring music and dancing with a Latin theme at Technopolis, Wednesday and Thursday, 25 and 26 February 2009. A performance featuring Latin, tango and jazz will be presented 25 February at 9 pm; on 26 February at 9 pm, the groups Fuego de Cuba and Latino will put on an authentic Latin-American programme with plenty of music and dancing.
Every year, the Technopolis complex in Gazi is flooded with people attending the International Comics Festival. This year the 13th International Comics Festival, one of Athens' most successful and popular events, will take place January 22-25 at the Technopolis Cultural Centre in the Gazi district. The festival will host exhibitions by Greek and international artists, featuring comic art and other events.
For the first time,Technopolis in Gazi will host, from the 16th until the 19th of October, the biggest multi-event of technology that has ever been organized in Athens. Pireos Street is the street, that, from antiquity onwards, has connected the city of Athens with its port. At its start is the Municipal Gallery, in the building of the old city nursery. Further down one sees industrial buildings that have been transformed into kernels of cultural activity: the Technopolis in a former gas factory, the Melina Merkouri Cultural Center in the Poulopoulos hat-making factory, Hellenic Cosmos in the former Viosol metal processing factory.
